A Look Back At September!

Hey hi hello!
It’s that time again, where I tell you all about my month.
September was a whirlwind (and honestly, October has carried on that theme as well) so I’m just gonna jump right on in!
First up, let’s take a few precious second to remember that while I’m somewhat intelligent, I’m not always Smart. Sometimes my common sense isn’t that common.
This is how, at the beginning of September, I ended up in Accident & Emergency with a second degree steam burn… On my boob.
“How did that happen, Zita?” I hear you ask.
Well I don’t think the details are really all that important…
Okay, fine.
I steam ironed myself. And not even by accident. I literally saw a crease on the dress I was wearing and was like “oh! I’ll iron that!” and proceeded to shoot boiling hot steam at my chest.
Yeah. Common sense was a missing person that day.
It’s now over a month later and I’m still marked from it. I have a small rectangular burn mark on my chest.
Thankfully it stopped hurting pretty quickly, but unfortunately it sent me spiralling into a 4 day flare up.
Whoops.
Nevertheless, we carry on in the face of (self-wrought) adversity.

The housemates and I have been going on mini adventures!
Kyda and I drove out to a local mountain and did a 1 hour walk to a lookout overlooking the ocean!
We’ve also been going to a hidden beach and looking for shark’s teeth. It’s been super fun and great way to get out of the house!
Work has also been keeping me busy! It’s Goal Getter workbook season, which means we’ve been preparing for that, along with working on Project 10%.
I’ll go into the workbooks a little more in October’s look-back, but excitingly Leonie and I also reached a cute little milestone:

Three years working with Leonie! It’s been such a wonderful learning experience and so much fun. Here’s to many more years!
Aside from work, I also got some great news from my knee surgeon – I don’t need anymore surgery at this stage!
I’m going to be seeing a physiotherapist again (which, oops, I need to organise that still) and hopefully strengthening some specific muscles will stop my kneecap from leaving its little house to say hello.
Honestly. Hypermobility is a curse sometimes.
But I was cheered up by the arrival of some mail!
My wonderful friend Kirby sent me a handmade card with such a lovely message. It actually made me tear up a bit, it was so sweet.
Leonie also sent me a little care package! A graphic novel/journal about exploring Tokyo on foot! I’m about half way through and it’s just fabulous. I miss Japan so much and I cannot wait to visit again!
Leonie also included some very excellent stickers, most of them space themed.
My journalling is about to get out of this world… (Get it? Out of this world? I’ll see myself out).
Now for some quick updates!

Mikasa is doing well! She’s adapted better than I could expect to having two new housemates (plus two new bunny rabbits) and is honestly thriving.

Wrestling is still my main hyperfocus. Surprised? You shouldn’t beeee.
And yes, I made the above graphic and YES it’s my phone wallpaper.
#Thriving

I’m also trying to get back into baking! I made banana bread and chocolate brownies, both of which were tasty as heck. I’m actually going to make some more banana bread this afternoon I think!
In terms of reading, I haven’t been. I’ve just felt far too exhausted throughout August and September to even attempt to pick up anything.
However! I’m excited to tell you I have read 3 books in October and as mentioned previously, am half way through the Tokyo graphic novel. Book updates will be returning next month. Yay!

One of my favourite internet finds this month.
A very good word indeed!
Lastly, I’m still having significant trouble sleeping. It really sucks and I’ve never had insomnia this badly before, but the positive is that I’ve been up early enough to go for walks around the forest that surrounds my property.
I really hope these photos bring you the same sense of peace and sense of home as they did me.
I’m tired, but at least I’m tired in an environment like this.
It’s the little blessings, ya know?
I’ll see you all very soon!
With love,
